BRAND DESIGN FOR DOUBLE DIGIT GROWTH
Challenge

Lotus Foods, producer of the world’s most unique heirloom and organic rice varietals, came to Bulldog Drummond to start a more compelling conversation with consumers through the way they tell their brand story on retail shelves.

 

Result

We began our partnership building a clear strategy around the notion that “Rice is Life”—both for those who eat it and those who farm it. Working closely together we developed a product packaging system that’s focused on visually communicating the stories of the rice farmers and the regions in which the rice is grown—the centerpiece of the Lotus story. In addition, we designed a unique icon system to communicate their innovative and sustainable work around water use reduction. The new packaging design can be seen on shelves throughout the country, and we’ve most recently extended that packaging into a new line of ready-to-eat rice varieties, rice-based ramens and rice crackers. Our work helped double revenues in the first twelve months after the brand refresh, and continues to drive sales across all categories.
